Chapter 37. She Wasn’t Just Any Assistant
Mason’s POV
“Daddy!” Sophie’s voice rang out across the playground as she rushed toward me, the small backpack bobbing up and down on her back with every step.
I was taken aback. Daddy? I gazed in surprise as Sophie wrapped her arms around my legs, her face shining up at me.
“Did you say Daddy?” I asked, crouching down where she stood so that I could search her face for the truth.
Sophie grinned and nodded. “Mommy said I should call daddy, that it was best that way.”
I was confused at first before the realization later hit me that she must have done that on purpose to prevent Max from finding out the truth from Sophie just in case they bumped into each other. With Max still in Seattle it might happen any day.
Nodding in agreement, I stood up and took her hand in my hand... “Well, if Mommy said so, then I guess that makes it official, huh?”
Sophie grinned eagerly. “Yay! Daddy, can we go now? I don’t wanna miss the carnival!”
