Chapter 29. To Trust Him
Mila and Edward were still in the basement, sitting on a bench. Mila slowly calmed down, but she still couldn't stop crying. She held her hands together while Edward stayed next to her with his head on the wall and looked up at the ceiling.
They were only a few inches apart. It was late at night, and Edward tried his best to explain, but Mila still had difficulty believing everything he said.
"I just can't get it," Mila mumbled. Her voice was hoarse from screaming and crying nonstop. She'd lost track of how many times she'd spoken the same thing to Edward either.
Edward shut his eyes for a second and then took a deep breath. He looked up at Mila, who was still staring at her hands.
"This is not right. I shouldn't have gotten in the way, and I shouldn't be the one to make you comprehend this. I need to call in a professional—"
Mila promptly shook her head, cutting Edward off in the middle of his senten
