Chapter 12
“I think someone has been following me for the past few weeks,” Lycanthropos said to Gabriel. “And I think someone is watching me. Or maybe people are watching me.”
Lycanthropos had been feeling uneasy and paranoid lately. He watched his back regularly, waking up from sleep many times to look out the window. And he believed he’d been seeing some figures move outside, covered in black hoodies, but they all vanished whenever he went out to see who they were. He didn’t want to believe he imagined things.
“Oh, look at you now, Harvard professor,” Gabriel joked. “People are after you now because you’re so smart, and they can’t deal with smart people.”
Lycanthropos didn’t get the joke, so Gabriel got more serious. “Hey, man, come on. This is Boston. It’s pretty safe out here, man. No one has the time for anybody, following them around.”
