After they had cleaned up the blood in the master bedroom and disposed of the bodies in an isolated alley, Antoine inspected the cavity under the bed. Yuu had excavated it since they had split up, so it was new to him, and it had room for two—probably for Roberto as well, Antoine assumed. Yuu had kept it spotless, so there was that favorable circumstance. As Antoine organized their sleeping place, he noticed Pierre beginning to show signs of anxiety.

“Your body knows daylight is coming,” he told the young vampire.

“Ugh. It’s not a good feeling!” Pierre said.

“You’ll get used to it. Let’s get settled, then.”

They made themselves comfortable in the floor recess, then dragged the bed over the space they occupied. After they had replaced the floorboards above themselves, they huddled together in the dark, which didn’t affect their vision in the slightest.
