A hiss left my lips as I gulped down the remaining drink, feeling the coldness coming into contact with my tongue. Earlier events flashed through my mind. I knew Rose hated me for taking her without her consent, for forcing her to see the real me — the real Leonardo Hunter. And then I rejected her as my mate right in front of my father. I knew there was something he knew that he was not telling me, and I would find out sooner or later.
He wanted me to unleash the demon in me, and he had gotten it. The smile on his face when I pronounced that I rejected Rose as my mate was disturbing. What was the use of claiming her when the reason for finding my mate was no longer important?
I didn’t care about what she thought. After all, that was what she wanted. She had rejected me first, and then I accepted and rejected her, too. So we were even. Consequence or no consequence, I didn’t care. I had to do whatever it took to claim the throne.
