Chapter 17. Another Side to Nikolas
He immediately retracted his hand as if scorched. Her cheeks were wet with tears and so soft, almost like a baby’s. He wanted to touch her again, but restrained himself.
He stared at her and sighed. It was a bad idea to take her to his office. With looks like hers, all the men would tear her alive. No, he would hide her in his house. She was his! Nikolas smiled, liking the last line of thought immensely. He did not know why he wanted her to be only his, but his heart felt strangely happy and content with the decision.
Giving her one last look, he started the car and started driving, deep in thought. “I’m sorry, Brooklyn. Now I’ll protect you with all my heart and soul, with every drop of blood that I have in my body. I promise you that,” he whispered as he drove all the way home.
Nikolas parked his car and carefully picked up an unconscious Brooklyn in his arms, as if she was precious to him. He strode into the house where Kathy had been waiting to be released. Sal
