Chapter 21. Does He Really Care?
Brooklyn felt relieved when Nikolas closed the blinds of her room. She stretched a little and did a happy dance in her head. She had been acutely aware of Nikolas’s gaze upon her, but didn’t dare to look up at him. Nikolas sent her a lot of work, and she was thankful that he didn’t summon her at all. All the correspondence happened via email. Although she did not know what her designation in the company was, she didn’t bother disturbing Nikolas.
“Brooklyn, I want you to come along with me to the conference room.” Nikolas walked into her cubicle a few minutes later. Engrossed in her work, his sudden presence startled Brooklyn. She hadn’t heard him stealthily walk inside at all.
“Yes, Mr. Ardolf. I, um, need to freshen up. Can you tell me where the staff washroom is?” She blushed at the roots of her hair. She had been controlling herself for the last hour, not knowing how to ask him, but now her bladder would burst if she didn’t go.
