Chapter 17

“Hm, an answer to that question. There’s no way of figuring it out until I’ve achieved my goal,” Kathrin said. She sat at the top of Tornwell’s house, staring at the night sky.
Suddenly, she saw a cloaked man watching her from the top of another building in the distance. She stood up, a smile spreading across her face. “He’s back!” she said.
“You’re really bent on getting that bounty, aren’t you?” Kathrin yelled, staring at the cloaked man. He remained silent. He stood up straight from where he was crouched and pulled out a long metal rod with one sharp end from within his cloak.
He pulled his arm back, gripping the rod tightly with the pointed end facing Kathrin. Then, with a powerful swing, he hurled it forward. The metal lance flew at Kathrin’s face with incredible speed, tearing through the air as it came closer and closer.
