Chapter 23. Afraid

At 9 AM, Selena and Zidant were having breakfast together. They weren't the only ones at the dining table; Gio was also present, frequently casting glances at his boss and Selena, alternating between the two.

Zidant, annoyed by Gio's staring, locked eyes with him. He said firmly, "If you have something to ask, just say it!"

Gio, nonchalant, replied, "Nothing," and resumed eating.

The meal passed without much conversation. Selena was sitting in the living room watching TV, but in secret, her eyes kept darting towards Zidant and Gio who were deep in conversation near the stairs. Selena felt the urge to approach and listen to their discussion.

"What's wrong with me?" Selena mumbled to herself.

Trying to focus on TV, her mind wandered back to the day when Mr Zidant had kissed her lips and forehead before leaving for work. But today, he hadn't done anything of the sort, leaving Selena puzzled.
