Chapter 27

“I guess you are having a baby,” Vince declared when we got home from visiting the doctor.

“No! We are both having a baby,” I corrected Vince. “This baby is a mixture of both of our efforts. I didn’t do it alone, Vince. We both did it!”

I could see the beads of sweat on Vince’s forehead as he accepted his mistake and drew me closer to kiss me on the forehead.

“I love you, Laura,” he said to me.

“I love you too,” I responded back to him.

There was a moment of silence between us as Vince looked around the room as if he had lost something. Then, after a while, he stopped looking around and focused on me.

“Doctor Chambers said that if I want a healthy baby, I need to have a healthy mother first.”

“Indeed he said that,” I smiled.

“So, I was wondering what I was going to cook for you, Laura, since I plan on having a healthy baby.”
