Chapter 10. Feigned Hate

I heard shouting from my apartment. I peeked out the building's window and saw Jake and Dean. Both engaged in a physical fight. My heart pounded, and I clutched my belly, protecting my babies. I didn't know what to do or if it was a good idea to go down and stop the fight. I was afraid of Dean, as he had made it clear he was not the same person I once knew. I summoned the courage and took the elevator down.

The cold wind enveloped me.

I knew this would happen! The police arrested Dean and Jake. People around us were watching the scene and recording it. I didn't want Jake to go to jail, nor Dean. But after he threatened to take my children away, I didn't care if Dean spent the rest of his life in prison. Unfortunately, I knew he would get out quickly.
