Chapter 7. You Love Me?
LENA
I started working at the bar. Jake took care of serving drinks to the customers. To be honest, I think he did it to keep a close eye on me.
A week later since that, I told Jake about my pregnancy. It didn't take him over two days to find me a beautiful apartment.
He even paid a year's rent in advance and offered to cover the rest of my stay. I never thought Jake would be so kind. I don't believe I made a mistake by telling him the truth. I didn't intend to take advantage of Jake's kindness, but I was grateful for the help he was offering.
"How are you feeling? Are you tired?" Jake inquired.
Yes, I was feeling tired.
"I'm fine," I lied, forcing a smile.
Jake didn't believe me.
"Let me take you home, Lena," he offered, taking the keys to his car.
"No," I declined. "Seriously, I'm fine. There are still five hours until the bar closes."
