Winter’s POV

It was the first time of seeing Lordan look so harmless — in his sleep. So vulnerable. The potion had taken full effect and rendered him completely unconscious.

I stroked his hair and made my fingers gently trail through the strands as I lost myself in the act of simply staring at him. I touched his hands, wanting to feel the warmth of his skin one last time.

Then I leaned down and planted a farewell kiss on his lips, knowing that this would be the last time I’d ever touch him in such an intimate way. I needed to gather my resolve for what I was about to do.

I climbed off the bed and retrieved the dagger I had hidden under it while pouring the wine. My hands trembled as I held the weapon, fully aware of what came next.
