Selene walked with her father, her hand in the crook of his elbow, as he led her further into the ballroom. She was amazed to see so many people, most of whom she recognized from the pack, but some faces looked unfamiliar, and they didn’t smell like members of her pack. Wolves higher in the pack hierarchy can recognize a pack member through their scent.
Werewolves that belong to one pack tend to have a common underlying scent laced with their personal scent due to the pack bond that connects all members. Alphas, Lunas, Betas, and Gammas of a pack can detect this scent, and their children can as well. Being the daughter of an alpha made Selene able to know which werewolves belonged to her pack.
