Lucien walked over to her and picked up the bracelet from where she left it, not answering her question but saying something totally different.

“You’re too jumpy,” he mocked her with a teasing smirk. Anna narrowed her gaze playfully but said nothing. “Which wrist?” he asked, seeing there was just one bracelet.

Anna held out her left wrist, and Lucien slid the bracelet around it. She felt the cold metal against her warm skin before he locked the clasp in place, like he had done it a hundred times.
