Chapter 17. You Scared Me
Lucien stopped to say something to one of the FBO staff, but her ears were buzzing with disbelief. This was it. She was actually getting on a private jet.
He held her hand gently, and that grounded her more than anything. She squeezed it.
"Ready?" he asked.
‘Not even close,’ she thought to herself, but just smiled at him.
They ascended the stairs of the plane, and the moment she stepped in, she nearly stopped breathing. The jet’s interior was like something out of a high-fashion magazine; cream leather seats, golden accents, a small bar, and wide windows with silk shades. It smelled like citrus, suede, and Lucien.
Two elegantly dressed women; his secretaries, stood at the far end, offering polite nods. Seated in one of the wide armchairs was his round-glasses assistant, tablet in hand. He gave a tight-lipped smile when he saw her. He recognized her.
