The rest of the trip passed by with Lucien spending more of his time with Anna since he finished his scheduled meetings and visited a few days earlier.

Anna was back in her city. Back to work. Lucien took her to the site of development and introduced her to the people she would work with so she had something to report to her manager.

She had just finished filing her report and was about to go to sleep when her phone lit up with a text. She wasn’t a fan of it, so she didn’t look at it until the phone rang.

It was her mother.

Anna panicked. She had talked to her mother a few days ago, so she was sure the woman wasn’t calling just to check up on her.
