"And then... I found him," Anna continued, voice breaking. "With someone else. In my bed, Lucien. He was fucking someone else on my favourite sheets. I had to throw them out. I burnt them actually." She sniffed. "The bastard couldn't even take her to his place because his place was a shit hole."

A tear slid down her cheek, and Lucien caught it with his thumb before it could fall further. He didn’t say anything.

"I’m scared," she whispered, burying her face into his chest. "I'm scared you’ll prove Kel right again about my taste in men. That you’ll break my heart when I least expect it."

Lucien leaned down, resting his forehead against the crown of her head. "Bunny," he breathed, voice rough with emotion. "Look at me."
