Chapter 21. Good Night

The news came out like wildfire, and now even the people around our building are already looking at me and maybe judging me at the same time. They definitely know about the article, and the way they stare at me from head to toe screams like they're disgusted at me.

I read some of the comments yesterday after we had lunch. I told Cadence to just let it go, as she offered a press conference about it.

I don't want that kind of attention. I was already used to what they thought about me. Besides, all they could do was judge me. They won't get rich by hating me while I, on the other side, am getting promoted and making my company known.

They get nothing, while I get everything.

After my lunch with Cadence yesterday, she texted me later last night that she'd visit me at my office today. I don't like the idea, but I also don't want to reject her offer. She told me she'd just pass by to check what's happening
