Chapter 26. A Wolf in Sheep’s Disguise
Upon hearing this, the twins looked at themselves and sat back anxiously in their chairs. The navigator of the carriage was dead. The Alpha and Ajax on the other cart were silent and unmoving. Lei was outside, confronting the leader of this ambush.
“What do you want?” she asked them in a low, warning tone. Hearing this, Ajax from the first vehicle clenched his jaw.
He attempts to open the door, but his father stops him by holding his wrist. Ajax looks at him with disbelief.
“You heard what she said.” Lord Aron reminded his son. “If you go out, you will be shot repeatedly by the heart with those arrows as soon as you show yourself. You will never recover from silver.”
“You and I have fair shares of being struck with these things and had far deeper wounds, Father.” He shrugged his shoulders.
“Just trust the human. Just this one time.”
“She will be killed more than it could kill us. Silver arrows or not, once all of those sixteen arrows pierces her,
