Valerie Will POV

I couldn’t believe that Patrick would try to threaten me with something like that. He was acting like he was a saint in the situation.

Letting out a disgusted sigh, I turned around and stormed out of the room. Even if I wanted to consider his request to take me out for lunch, I couldn’t bring myself to do it anymore,

As I trudged down the staircase, he trailed behind me.

“Valerie, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said that.” He apologized when he realized how his threat made me feel. “Please, I was just desperate and stupid.”

I scoffed.

He should have thought about his words carefully before speaking to me. Maybe he expected me to be scared and frightened.

But I couldn’t let him bully me. Not with that. Not with anything.

If I had given in to his blackmail, he would continue holding it against me. I still couldn’t believe he would use something we had buried in the past to manipulate me.
