Chapter 4. Broken Bones, Mangled Flesh
Mark stirred awake in a cold sweat after another vivid nightmare. The same one he’d been having for some months; he could almost feel the blood on his lips, hear the heavy thuds and clawing. He felt the tremors that went up his spine as he tried to make sense of the nightmare that was beginning to become recurrent.
There was something about the atmosphere that got to him; the stuffy air affected him as his mind kept going back to the scene, filled with blood dripping from between his teeth and teeth staining the floor beneath him. He felt himself shaking his head as he tried to stop the images of broken bones and blood from getting to him. But try as he might, the images would not let him be.
His hands were clasped tight over his eyes like a vice to calm himself and regain control. He couldn’t understand what caused this dream to be so intense, but one
