Chapter 41. Steady
Isabella took tentative steps into her room. Her legs felt detached from her body, almost noodle-like.
She had a tight grip on Alexander’s arm, certain she’d leave a bruise when she let go, but Alexander didn’t seem to mind.
It felt good to be back to the familiar purple walls. The entire part of a wall was dedicated to pictures of her best moments; most had Jane in them.
Not a single one held her family together. They never had a family photo taken, except when she graduated high school as valedictorian, and her parents needed to flaunt it in the faces of their elite friends.
Ryder, her father, had stayed back at the hospital, settling a few hospital bills and clearing the hospital room of any personal stuff while Alexander drove her back.
At first, she was a bit reluctant to enter a car, knowing it was the exact reason for her present condition, but a few words of affirmation and it got easier to simply slip in, throw on her seat belt, and let the car
