Chapter 5
“It’s been two days since Henry came home. I wonder where he went? What business meeting does he have that he doesn’t want me to come with him.” Maya sighed.
She missed him so badly. Madelyn had been acting weirdly toward her. Yeah, she knew Madelyn didn’t like her, but she seemed to be nice these days. She smiled from time to time, and she laughed without reason.
Maya felt so bored and lonely in the big mansion; though she was keeping herself busy with work, still, without Henry, she felt empty. She was done in the office; she packed her stuff and drove to the house.
As she was about to enter, Madelyn blocked her. “And what are you doing here?” She asked.
“I’m home,” Maya said, trying to go in, but Madelyn pushed her.
“What home? This isn’t your house, you crook.”
“Please, ma, I had a hectic day at work covering for the boss, rescheduling his appointment. I’m so famished.”
“So?” Madelyn asked.
“Can I pass? I’m tired,” Maya protest
