Chapter 9

The next morning, Audrey woke up shivering due to where she had slept the night before. She couldn’t find Henry in the room, so she quickly stood up from the floor and lay on the bed. She rolled the duvet over her body, ensuring all parts of her were covered, and stayed in that position for ten minutes.

Afterward, she took a warm bath and dressed up. She wore an outfit, a long blue gown that looked radiant on her body. The top of the gown was slightly open, showing a glimpse of her chest, and she carried a black bag to match. She applied light makeup to cover up the red spots on her face and wore a long sleeve to conceal the red spot on her neck.

Audrey went downstairs and boarded a cab without bothering to inform her mother-in-law of her destination. She told the cab driver her location, and he drove off. Upon reaching her destination, she alighted, paid the cab driver, and entered the compound. She knocked on her friend’s door twice before it opened.
