Chapter 44. Trapped Kyler
“Willow…”
Kyler woke from his slumber, instantly alert. He missed Willow so much that he was even dreaming about her. Kyler’s entire body ached; his hands and feet were bound with iron chains.
He was locked in a small room with barred windows and iron bars. It was like a prison cell. As Kyler rose from the floor, the clanking sound of the chains binding him echoed. His wrists felt a little sore.
“This is an outrage,” Kyler complained. “I’m not going anywhere. And they went this far.”
The door to Kyler’s room was locked, but it opened. A woman with auburn hair tied back in a ponytail that reached her shoulders entered with a tray. Kyler and the woman exchanged glances.
“Kyler,” the woman said quietly.
Kyler recognized who she was. The Messer clan was a large group, including his distant cousins. Standing in front of Kyler, surrounded by the iron bars, was Jemima, one of Kyler’s distant cousins. It was unexpected to Kyler that Jemima was involved in
