Chapter 47. Secret Lab

Willow descended the stairs about one and a half stories high. The winding stone steps resembled a medieval underground chamber. When she reached the bottom, a closed wooden door was illuminated by a light above it.

“What the…” Willow stopped mid-sentence.

Somehow, Willow’s intuition told her that Kyler was imprisoned there. She couldn’t believe that Kyler would just disappear without saying a word. Was it Veronica’s conspiracy, or maybe Shawn was involved and forced to keep quiet? Several possibilities swirled through Willow’s mind.

As she pulled the handle of the sturdy iron door, she heard a ‘creak.’ A cold breeze hit her, not the damp, musty smell of mold, but a medicinal scent.

Willow peered inside, the room brightly lit. What she saw was beyond her wildest imagination. It wasn’t Kyler in there; it was a complete laboratory. There were cooling machines and tables with various research tools, and the room floor was as clean as if it had been designed as a
