Chapter 20. The Nightmare Turned to a Dream
As he closed his eyes, an image of Chepi started to materialize within the depths of his mind.“They must not learn about us yet,” Chepi said
“Why?”
“Because they will not understand.”
“But I love you, and I know that our tribes would unite with our love leading them. The gods would want this. They would never have the two of us fall in love with each other if our love was meant to be kept a secret.”
“Keme, they don’t know about your gift.”
“What? Why haven’t you told them? Especially now that animals are scarce in these parts! They need to know I can help!”
“And you need to calm down, Keme, before your temper gets the best of you again.”
“My temper? I wouldn’t be so mad if you would tell them! They need food!”
“Keme, please?” Chepi said as she stroked his arm. “I can’t always be here to calm the beast within you. One day, it may get the better of you just like it did Matchitehew.”
“I will not let it get the best of me,” Keme said
