Chapter 41. Fledgling Frustrations
“I couldn’t help myself, Alec. She had run in here because a bunch of boys were stoning her, and the sweet scent of her blood,” Armand started. “It was so sweet. It was too hard to resist.”
“Yes, well, you need to learn how to restrain yourself. Restraint is very important for our kind. Very important. We don’t make it a point to kill our prey. We don’t want to call attention to ourselves. Learn the difference.” Lilith said and then lowered her head as she continued, “Yes, mistakes were been made. But we can’t afford exposure of our kind. The gods will vanquish us if the mortals discover what we are. Do you understand me?”
Lilith was as forceful, scolding him as a mother would to a child. It honestly made Alec think twice about displeasing her. Yet? What knowledge did the hellion possess about humans? It wasn’t like she ever was one.
“But they are delicious! I need more!” Armand said, and he was gone within a blink of an eye.
