Chapter 20

She blinked, staring at him as he walked towards her. Her throat felt dry at being alone in the room with him, and coupled with her emotions, she felt like jumping his bones.

“Jason!” she croaked, hating how horrible her voice sounded to her ears.

Sensing how she felt, he sat close to her for comfort but not too close that she could reach out to him. He knew she had been in pain for a very long time and wouldn’t be able to stretch much with her hands to get at him.

She winced. “Are you here to help me?”

He stared at her, wondering how he was meant to answer that. He was here to help her but not in the way she thought of.

She frowned at his hesitation and cried out as another wave of pain swept through her. “Jason, help me, please.”

He shook his head. “I wouldn’t be cuddling with you, Silver. You are a princess, and you are more than that.”

She scowled. “My brother does that.”
