Chapter 58. A Proposition
She stepped in and waited for me to walk in before she closed the door and leaned against it. Then she stared at me, not saying a word.
It felt weird being watched but I didn’t say anything either. As she looked at me, it was like she was seeing something else. Or perhaps…someone else.
She did say that I was a spitting image of my mother, so maybe she was simply missing her sister.
“You look so much like her,” She finally spoke, breaking the silence. “Her hair, her eyes…everything. You’re basically your mother.” She chuckled sadly, pain behind her eyes.
“Oh…” I didn’t really know what to say.
“Did you know that today’s her birthday too?” She asked, pushing her weight off the door and walking past me.
