Chapter 55. The Floor

The tiles on the floor were cold and felt so good. I was right, you see, they did feel good. I closed my eyes and then hugged my knees, still holding the bag of things very tightly. 

“Let me help you with that,” One of the nurses said as she tried to take the bag from my hand. 

But I snapped. I tightened my grip and shouted, “Don’t f*cking touch it!” They all looked at me, taken aback. I could not help it, and it felt so f*cking good that I yelled. But maybe I shouldn’t have because now it felt like the shield that had been placed around me to protect me from my emotions had started to break away. 

I started to actually feel. I was now getting hit with the full power of my mind and emotions, and boy, it was not good. 

“Let her be,” The black guy said and then they all stepped away. “Let her be,” He whispered under his breath. “She needs to grieve.” 

“No, no, no, no,” I repeated like a mad woman as I shook my head. My voice soon started
