Chapter 11
“Could it be another assassin sent to have me killed?” She asked herself as she paid the cab driver.
“It mostly is,” she muttered under her breath as her eyes rolled around in search of something she could use in fighting him. She saw a log of wood standing by a corner of the stairs. It was the remains of what her neighbor had used in fixing his roofing when it was leaking.
Her legs swished gently across the stairs, making sure that she made no sound that could attract the stranger to her. This time, she wasn’t going to allow him to catch her off guard as the last set did.
She ascended the stairs at long last, stood in the corridor, and was about to hit the wood on his back when he swiveled back.
“No!!!” He let out a loud yell as his eyes fell on her.
“What?” She asked, still raising the stick over her head. She looked so horrendous and daunting, causing him to shudder.
