Chapter 12
She steeled her hands into fists and closed her eyes in an attempt to strengthen her resolve. She had waited long for this day, and she wouldn’t back out now.
Now was not the right time for her to become weak. She had to know the reason why she was being treated the way she didn’t like. Today was the day. No more dilly-dallying.
“Come on. You can do it. You’ve got to do this. What else haven’t you seen in this house? No matter what it is, you have a right to find out and know the next thing for you.”
Giving herself a pep talk, she flew open her eyes and faced her mother squarely. She could see her father tense where he was as he sensed that she was mentally prepared to take whatever was coming her way.
“I want to hear it all, mom. I want to. Tell me. Why did you birth me in the first place? Why did you choose to treat me the way you do? Or am I adopted?”
