Kayden tried to come up with a different question as he chewed on a huge bite of his steak, his brain reeling from the possibility of his evening with his mate going down the drain, with no other way to salvage it. And he honestly couldn’t think of much right now when his lust had not fully simmered down, and there was a fat chance that it would not with his eyes always on her lips, a little greasy from the burger, making them look even softer.
“So how was Tryon Creek State Natural Area? You took photos, right?” Kayden cleared his throat, trying to gauge if his question was not too personal.
“They were great,” Zayla replied in a soft voice, her forehead creased while she was deep in thought, her brain barely understanding what Kayden was asking her because she was thinking about telling him the truth. She wondered why she felt like she could trust him.
