Katy’s POV

“Are you married?”

“What?”

I took my time to stare down at the woman for any hint of a joke, but I couldn’t find any playfulness on her face. I should have known what I was getting myself into by now. It’s either I get this job or spend the rest of my life unemployed. Gathering all my strength, I took a deep breath before giving her my answer.

“Yes,” I uttered tight-lipped. Amy is going to freak out when she hears it.

For a moment, I saw her face loosen at my answer. Why is that so? Does being married matter to them a lot?

“Miss Trent, you’re hired. Welcome to SG Company. You just need to fill out the required papers, and you’re good to go,” she said, settling some papers in front of me.
