Chapter 2

It was just a simple greeting, but the idea of being alone with him in a small space excited me for reasons I couldn't explain. I replied nervously, “Hi. Are you going down?”

“Yes,” he replied, grinning at me as he checked the floor numbers. “Looks like we're heading to the same floor.”

“Are you sure? What a coincidence,” I said, trying to gather my thoughts. His attractive smile and cute dimples overwhelmed me. When he grinned at me, I felt like I was about to collapse. Earlier, I couldn't flirt with him as planned because I was too scared of the way he looked into my eyes.

“Are you with friends or a boyfriend?” he casually asked.

“No, I'm alone,” I said, shaking my head. “Why do you ask?”

“Hmm, I noticed you were staring earlier, and correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you want to be with me tonight.”

I narrowed my eyes at him and smiled at his straightforwardness. “I apologize if I was staring at you earlier. It was my fault,” I admitted, and he nodded.

The elevator then stopped, and some women entered, so I didn't have a chance to explain further. When we reached the seventh floor, we exchanged smiles as we exited the elevator.

“Does your boyfriend have a room in the hotel?” he dared to ask again, probably checking if I had lied earlier. I scowled at him because he had no right to inquire about my personal life. “I already told you that I'm alone,” I insisted, and he raised an eyebrow in response. “Why? Can't a woman be alone in a hotel?”

“Not really, but it's unusual,” he responded with a smirk.

“It may seem unusual, but whenever I have free time, I usually come here to relax,” I lied.

“I see,” he said, nodding his head. “My name is Henry Blackwood. What about yours?”

“Chloe,” I replied, seeing no reason not to give him my name. I didn't give my full name, and he didn't ask for it. He nodded and smiled. Oh God, those dimples were my weakness!

“See you around, Chloe. For now, good night, and I hope you have sweet dreams later.”

“Good night,” I said, surprised when he went to the door next to mine. For a moment, I wondered if the rumors about him were true. If he was really a womanizer, he wouldn't waste the opportunity to be with me. Or maybe, I just wasn't his type.

Seriously? No, I refused to think about the possible reasons why he didn't make a move on me. My friends said I was the most beautiful woman in Blood Moon, and there were several young men who had a crush on me. Maybe he was just playing hard to get, right? I decided to let it go and accept that Henry Blackwood knew we were on the same floor and were neighbors.

Before opening the door to my room, I chuckled at the turn of events. I checked my phone and, as expected, received several text messages from my friends. I took a deep breath before responding, telling them I had a terrible headache and needed rest. They didn't question me further, and I could hear them giggling. Maybe they saw a cute guy approaching their table.

I took a quick shower to freshen up, but instead of wearing my nightdress, I chose something more comfortable. While bathing, an idea came to mind, and I decided to visit him! Who cared if I appeared aggressive?

Unlike in the bar, I had no hesitation this time. However, as I made my way to his room, I suddenly had second thoughts. What if he said no? It would be the most embarrassing moment of my life. I let out a deep sigh and grabbed my purse before heading to his door.

My hands trembled as I knocked, unsure if he would open or if he was even awake. I was about to leave when I heard the doorknob click from the inside. I turned around and waited. When he saw me, he furrowed his brows, but before he could tell me to leave, I quickly entered his room. It was a risky and embarrassing move, but it was necessary for my goal.

“Wait, what are you doing here, Chloe?” he asked.

I simply smiled at him in response, though he seemed annoyed. “I thought you wanted me tonight,” I said, taking a step closer. He didn't move away, so I assumed it was safe, even though he looked perplexed.

His attention shifted to the ceiling and chandelier. He sighed and clenched his teeth. “Look, my dear, I'm very busy tonight. I'd appreciate it if you could just leave.”

I persisted, and he furrowed his brow. He must have thought I was crazy. But I had no intention of leaving without completing my mission. “I'm already here, Henry. Are you really going to send me away?”

“So, what exactly do you want? It's impolite to enter someone's room at this hour,” he grumbled.

As someone with no prior experience dealing with a man like Henry, I probably should have left. But I didn't want to, and I couldn't! “Sleep with me,” I announced.
