Chapter 31. Getting Personal

Leah’s POV

Due to the way Rafael looked at me, I could see that he did not want to be touched. I took the hint and quickly took my hand away, letting go off his wrist.

I was confused. Everything was going so smoothly and then it was not. I really wanted to know what had happened, but I needed to be careful at the same time.

He then softened his features and sighed. “I’m sorry but I need to ask. And when I do, please be honest.”

“Yeah…sure, I guess.” I took a step away from him and hugged my body.

“Are you doing all of this, pretending to listen to me and all that because you want to go back to your life?”

His question was valid. He was obviously trying to open up but he feared that I may have been using him or just manipulating him in a way that could earn or get me my freedom.

But if I was being honest. No. At least not in the exact moment. When he was expressing himself, I was genuinely intrigued.
