Chapter 48. The Waiting Game

Dominic’s POV

“They said he’s a match!” The silence was suddenly broken by Luca, as sunlight broke through a poor sky, the coming of a storm.

“A match?” I repeated, posing a question. I could not believe what he was saying. This was what we had been wanting to hear, but at the same time this news coming in like a speeding bullet, whizzed past my ears and I almost didn’t know how to digest it.

“Yeah,” Luca agreed, the relief filling his features as cautiously optimistic bravado. “The doctors just told us. Michael is already in preparation for the operation.”

I had relief and fear running over me in a wave of emotions. “This is it,” I whispered, trying to wrap the fact around my mind that we were finally moving forward. “This just might be the miracle we have been praying for.”

Leila looked at me with big eyes full of both hope and immense terror. “He’ll surely survive it right?” she said.

I nodded, but it was more for her benefit than mine.
