Chapter 60. Think for Myself
Adeline’s POV
I managed to open my eyes and I noticed that the lights above me were too white, too quiet.
Slowly, I opened my eyes. The ceiling looked familiar, but not like home.
The last place I remembered was the cold bathroom floor, my fingers holding my belly tightly, my voice screaming for Theodore when the pain became excruciating and I thought I had lost my baby.
But this… this was the pack’s hospital.
I turned my head gently, careful not to stir the ache in my body, and there he was—Theodore.
Sitting beside me, his elbows resting on his knees, eyes watching me like I was the last thing he wanted to lose.
The moment I saw him, I turned my face away, pressing my cheek to the cool pillow.
“What are you doing here?” I asked quietly. I couldn’t bear to look at him. Not now.
“You passed out again,” he said. “I was worried about you. I had to burst in to get you out... I was worried, Adeline.”
I didn’t answer.
