I had never been this embarrassed before in my life. Not once. Not ever.

“Father! Father!” I cried out the moment I saw him step inside. My feet moved on their own as I rushed to him, with tears all over my eyes.

“Father!” I cried again, clutching his arm tightly.

“What’s the issue? What’s wrong? And where’s Adeline?” he asked, looking around. “There was a meeting in the pack today so I had to leave. Where is she?”

“Oh, Father!” My heart twisted painfully as I buried my face in his chest for a moment. “I looked like a fool today… in front of her… and Theodore.”

“And that’s not all,” I added quickly, feeling my throat close up.
