Adeline’s POV

“I can’t believe a tiny little life is growing inside me,” I said to Rosa as I kept my eyes on my bare belly in the mirror.

It wasn’t showing yet, not even a little, but deep inside, I could feel that small soul blooming quietly, like a secret only I knew.

“When will you tell Theodore?” Rosa asked gently.

“Oh, Rosa!” I snapped, quickly pulling my clothes back down to cover my stomach.

I turned to her. “You have a thing for ruining the moment, don’t you?”

“Theodore has every right to know you’re carrying his child, Adeline. Don’t you think you’re being a bit too selfish now?” she said, her arms crossed like a scolding mother.

“I am not going to let him stay with me just because I’m with his child.”

“Then let him decide,” Rosa pressed. “Give him the chance to choose, instead of assuming he’ll only want to be with you because of the child. What if he loves you and—”
