Adeline’s POV
Everywhere had been quiet. We hadn’t had many sick patients this week, so the hospital stayed ever so calm.
I found myself spending most of my time with Ezra, and to be honest, I was getting very used to his company, used to having him around like a warm coat I didn’t know I needed.
He didn’t make me feel heavy or burdened. All the sadness I had been drowning in before he came... it vanished, just like that.
Theodore, on the other hand, wouldn’t stop filling my hospital table with flowers.
They were everywhere—flowers tucked in every corner, in every vase.
They were my favorite, and he knew that, of course.
Every morning, he made sure there were fresh ones, constantly marking his territory without saying a single word.
And he never forgot to leave a note beside them, but I never opened a single one.
