Theodore’s POV
As much as I knew King Ezra was a man of values, I couldn’t help how uncomfortable I was starting to feel.
His long stay here was beginning to stretch too far. Sure, he was welcome to stay in the pack for as long as he pleased, but right here? At the pack hospital?
With my wife attending to him every single day? It was starting to feel like a noose tightening around my neck.
“Compared to when I saw him, he’s getting better and his injuries have quite healed up a...”
Adeline started and that was all I needed to hear. She didn’t have to say anything more. There was nothing else to be said.
“Perfect!” I blurted out, unable to hide the satisfaction in my voice.
“So that means you would be leaving anytime soon, right?” I asked Ezra directly.
“Theodore!” Adeline gasped, snapping her hand out of my grip. “That’s rude.”
“No, no... it’s fine,” Ezra said. “On the contrary, I was just telling Adeline...” he began.
