“What? No… Wait, you’re not well, Wayne!” Dolly yelled after him, sprinting to hold him back.

Jake snapped to his feet, and the rest of the men followed suit. He hurried to Dolly’s side, gently catching her before she could chase after their Alpha.

“Don’t worry. We’ll go with him. Just stay here with Olive, okay? If we aren’t back in time, call us the second the surgery is over. Okay?” he told her, his voice soothing.

She watched Wayne’s receding back as he rounded the corner of the hallway and vanished from sight. She swallowed nervously, sick with worry for her brother.
