Chapter 55. A Fiancee From Hell

"This is absurd!" The elder banged his fist on the table and stood from his seat. His angry eyes fixated on me. "You cannot make such a decision by yourself. This concerns the future of the entire pack. We cannot allow this!"

"We all agree with Mr Jenkins," another elder seconded. "You are the future Alpha of this pack. You must put the pack before your own selfish interests. It's ridiculous that we are talking about this. You're marrying Miss Acker. This is according to the prophecy. We cannot get in the way of fate."

My parents had found it necessary to call a council meeting when I made it clear that I wanted to break the engagement. It was not going to change anything, but they could try.
