“Sorry, Sky. I have to tell the truth. Your papa is the most handsome man to me.”

Hearing Rachel’s loud statement, Edmund’s heart cracked. His eyes dimmed as the curve of his lips dropped.

Alice once said she preferred men without beards. Because of that, Edmund deliberately returned to his old appearance. He had hoped Alice would open her heart again, or maybe even remember what she had forgotten.

But apparently, she had chosen Lucas instead—a man with a thin beard and a scruffier appearance. Why was Alice so determined to maintain her identity as Lucas’s wife? Why did she still insist on hiding behind Rachel’s name?

“Mama, that’s not my question. I asked whether Uncle Edmund is more handsome without his beard or not. We don’t have to compare him to Papa. Of course Papa is more handsome.”
