It's Johnston!
Why was he here?
I never expected him to appear in this part of the big city. And he was accompanied by someone, Marelva, who was engrossed in her cell phone beside him while he scanned a magazine. They seemed to be waiting for something, their body language a mix of impatience and tension.
I observed the couple with a sense of melancholy. I wished I could confide in Johnston and seek his guidance. He was always adept at handling tough situations, with a wisdom and calmness that soothed my turbulent thoughts. However, he was Alex's Beta, and he was bound to report any encounters we might have. It wouldn't be fair to place him in a position where he must choose between our friendship and his loyalty to his Alpha; there was no middle ground here.
The situation felt overwhelming, and I desperately needed someone who had my back. Johnston flipped through a magazine absentmindedly, his thoughts clearly elsewhere. M
