Maya felt cold feet when Emilia told her that she was thinking of going to meet someone to know if it was wrong to believe in love.

“Why would you do that?” Maya sounded very surprised. “Love is a beautiful thing. There is no wrong in it.”

“I am not sure that I agree with that anymore, Maya,” Emilia added. “I mean, I used to constantly see love as a beautiful thing that came directly from God until people made me feel like shit.”

Maya moved closer to Emilia and touched her gently on the shoulders. “Your bad experience shouldn’t make you change your mind about how you view things.”

Emilia let out a deep sigh, her gaze fixed on a distant point as if lost in thought. “I know, Maya. But it’s not just one bad experience. It’s a series of disappointments, heartbreaks, and letdowns. It’s like I’ve been handed a bouquet of thorns instead of roses.”
