Chapter 7. Wrong
"What if I wasn't married? Would we have a chance? Could you ever like me?" he asked after a while.
We were both lying down in front of his car, still gazing at the sparkling stars in the sky.
"I don't know," I replied.
I could feel him turning towards me, but I kept my gaze fixed above.
"I mean, just imagine. Pretend that I'm not married, and I've fallen for you," he said.
"What's the point of asking that when, in reality, you are married?" I countered.
Because it was true. He could ask that question, but even if I said it was possible, nothing would change. In the end, he was still married, and that couldn't be altered. He couldn't develop feelings for someone else because he was already committed.
"Is it that hard to say yes or no?" his voice sounded frustrated.
"It's just that nothing can change—"
"Yes or no, Ina."
"Even if I say yes," I continued.
"So there's a chance..."
